Apache tears and chanterelles

I located the deposit of Apache Tears today, it is about 1.5 miles N of Poage Lake.  We will plan on hiking there Thursday providing the road is still open.  The road is going to be closed to install culverts on Crystal Cr. and one other stream.
I found chanterelles in about 1/3 of the open spaces in the timber, particularly on South facing rocky slopes.  We should be able to find some on Thursday.

The Apache Tears are plentiful, lots laying on the ground, but there are MANY embedded in the rocks so I suggest you bring a rock hammer or a small hand pick to collect specimens.

See you Thursday at 9AM.........
