Inspiration Point Hike

Wayne and Linda lead us on a hike to inspiration point above Creede. When I say above, it was 2053 feet above Creede! The round trip mileage was 4.27 miles. I’ll leave it to the reader to calculate the average slope. All along the trail were spectacular views of Creede and the surrounding mountains and valley.

The dark spot in the center of the photo is the Creede Fire department.

3 Linda’s (Cooper, Moulds and Treibly) Wayne, Lloyd and Barbara made the trek to Inspiration Point. It was a narrow space with drop offs on both sides.

Looking down on Creede.
On Monday we hiked Embargo Creek, there were 14 hikers.

ATV ride - Trl 700

Connie and Harry across trail 700. After a cool start it quickly warmed up when Connie gave us a demonstration of how to get stuck in mud. Harry then showed us the correct technique for getting unstuck. Once we got passed the wet area the trail was in pretty good shape with only a couple of down trees.

Deep Creek Hike 5-22-18

Wayne led 15 of us up the trail, meeting a group of  YOUNG hikers on the way back down.  There is still quite a bit of water coming down the creek, it is so good to hike along a running stream of water.  The wildflowers are getting started along with the berries and currants.

I only saw one wild creature and that was a garter snake at our lunch spot, but it was camera shy and didn't hang around long enough for me to get its picture.

I don't know if there is a hike Wednesday, but there will be one next Monday so come on out and enjoy our great land.........

ATV ride 5-1-18

Harry led us up FSR345 to the Shaw Mesa turnoff, parked there and went down to FSR342 and 342A, clearing the road as we went along.  We took a side trip to check out the old adobe house along Shaw creek; it has deteriorated to the point it is hard to find.  I recall 20 years ago when all 4 walls were visible and the front door frame.  Nature reclaims its own pretty quickly.

Look for an email later this week to learn if there will be another ride Friday.........

MONDAY HIKE 4-30-18

We chose to hike around the Boulder Field area in an effort to avoid as much wind as possible, but it was still a very windy hike.  We continued on South of the BF and ended up going up (almost) to the top of a memorable hill.  A few folks made it to the top but most of us chose a lower altitude..........

The Oregon Grape is one of the few early blossoms showing up and I read on WebMD that it is used for psoriasis treatment: I don't know it you rub it on, eat it or just how it is used.

There were 17 of us today and all returned safely to the Visitor Center.

NEXT MONDAY PLEASE COME TO HIKE AT 9AM, WE ARE STARTING OUR WARM WEATHER SCHEDULE!!

Hope to see all of you again and bring a friend..........
