Ivy Creek Trail Hike

It was another beautiful day to be outside enjoying the fall foliage. We hiked along the Ivy Creek and up into the forest primeval where we stopped for lunch. Most of the hike was in the Weminuche Wilderness.

Ivy Creek hike

Barbara led us on a brisk hike up the Ivy Cr. trail, enjoying the aspen leaves and the flora and fauna that this canyon offers to all. We went up a little over 3 miles to a lunch spot and came back down the trail to our vehicles. We had quite a bit of discussion regarding the holes in the side of the mountain as to whether they were natural or man-made..........................
The beavers are hard at work getting their winter supply of food gathered and the water bird gave us an entertaining show for several minutes.
Then some of us hiked into the Ice Caves for some more exercise.........
Wayne & Linda will lead us on a hike Monday, meet at the VCPL by 9AM, bring a lunch, water, Orange Vest and a friend.

A few Platoro Photos

Magnificent! Peak of the season! There's a pink one! Stop the car… please!

A different "hike" opened our autumnal season. An dozen took a leisurely ride in comfortable cars and only three people used the steering devices and accelerators. The rest selected places to stop to enjoy the most colorful element in "Colorful Colorado."

As was stated in my car: "We are very fortunate to live among this stunning beauty"; "I'm so glad I stayed long enough to see this." The multiple colors of Platoro aspen, backed by beautiful mountains and deep blue water, stirred souls and activated camera shutters. Our pictures of this special part of Colorado will decorate many messages and computers for a long time.

Lunch at Skyline Lodge seemed to satisfy our unstressed energy centers.

Thanks to Barbara Pankhurst for joining us just before departing for Longview, TX. We also enjoyed having Ozzie and Eve with us again.

Next week please join one of the other hikes (Monday and Thursday at 9 a.m.) or lead one of your own. --

Fall Color Ride and Cookout

What a wonderful ride we did have and a marvelous lunch. The second group picture is on top of Blow Out Pass. You can tell we saw a lot of beautiful color. We got showered on a little and really got cooled off. It was great to have 29 people enjoy this ride.
