Pool Table Mountain Photos

Fremont's route--part 2 attracted 8 seekers of history. We climbed up Long Gulch to the rocky stratum holding up Pool Table Mountain, then strolled the top, with a fancy meal near the top.
Then we beat the clouds to the high swell (12,218') and went East into the Notch, then headed back South to the cars through the forest and some clearings.  Top--.

This was Mrs. Barlow's last Colorado hike for awhile; thanks for joining us.

The next Tuesday hike will start at 8 a.m. at the Visitor Center in South Fork. We have a few alternatives for long hikes at high altitude, which will depend on the weather.  We guarantee stunning scenery and some difficulty.  All hikers on this trip said it was their first time on Pool Table Mountain.  It was a treat for me and I'm going back to linger longer sometime soon.

The tough hikers have a Mt. Elbert climb planned for July 31 (first choice), assuming that the rains will hold off.  This means a July 30 trip to Lake View Campground and an early start (Barbara says she wants to start in the dark at 4:30 a.m.; some of us will probably go a little later). The campsites are in several loops and I'll send you more information later.  Please come on this hike only if you are well conditioned and determined.  We can't be waiting for very slow folks or neophytes. We are all volunteers and will not have a big rescue operation.
Note:  If rains are still common, we'll move this climb to dates in August.
