Continental Divide Trail near Crater Lake

Tuesday early and Barbara's urging brought out 15 folks to hike the high country near Elwood Pass. We started amidst some large Engelmann spruce and emerged above timberline for 3 hours of walking on the Continental Divide Trail. I was lucky to get back from family travel and join the group in a favorite part of our National Forest. The flowers are out and working at regeneration.
We all succeeded well in breathing well at high elevations.

Near-future hikes
--Thursday with Dennis on an interesting itinerary.

--Next Tuesday with the vigorous, into the high elevation life of the Pool Table Mtn. territory--we'll see more of Fremont's route to disaster. If weather requires it, we'll adjust.
Our present plan on climbing Mt. Elbert is to try for July 29-30. If weather forecasts suggest danger, we'll go the following week, etc., etc.  I've scouted the camping sites.  If you prefer cabins, check your Safari or other internet connection for Twin Lakes, CO accommodations.
