A stroll through a spruce forest calms the soul and refreshes the feet, especially on top of the very long Beaver Mountain. Fire in 2002 got some of the forest. Spruce bark beetles are currently taking the rest which could have been carefully harvested and regenerated.
Toppled trees of all sizes litter the ground under the still-green forest. More of them will soon be falling in the burned area.
