Deep Cr. trail,

We hiked four miles up the Deep Cr. trail, which has been improved a bunch; a culvert at the road and a new road to the trailhead.

We saw hundreds of patches of raspberries just waiting to be snacked upon, plus a bunch of gooseberries. The purple lupine and other flowers are staying the prettiest for the longest period of time............

We saw the tree where a bear had marked his territory by clawing the bark off of the tree, a picture shows it well.

We ate lunch near a boulder that had rolled down a long hill, breaking small trees and a large (12-15 inches in diameter) log before being stopped by the large tree with the gouge marks and the bark peeled off.

We will hike to the top of Bennett Peak next Tuesday, starting from Blowout Pass; this is a strenuous hike so bring extra water.  We will take it easy and rest quite frequently, don't want anybody to overdo it.  So bring your lunch, lots of water and a friend to Rickels park by 745AM and have fun with us.
