The beautiful Continental Divide Trail

Starting as Elwood Pass, we followed the Continental Divide westward Lunching at a 12,000+ foot tarn, looking up at a high tor. The clouds came and went, adding drama to a lovely landscape. The 13 hikers soaked it in as we paused frequently to gaze, to study the millions of flowers, and the marvelous geology.

We trod upon trails 813 (CDT) and 707(first part of Crater Lake Trail). Nothing could be finer--now with new CDT metal "blazes".

Next week we will gather at South Fork's Interpretive Center We depart at 9:00 a.m. We hope to pause in Creede to meet members of that crew at about 9:30, just north of the Theatre. Destination intended: Phoenix Park, hopefully taking us to the head of the valley to the second (smaller) waterfall. The water in the creek may be high, so wear boots and wool socks for comfort as we cross the creek two or three times.
