Shallow Creek Trail

What a gorgeous hike!! We hiked up the REAL Shallow Cr. trail for about 2.5 miles to the yurt, had lunch and came back down, enjoying the foliage both ways. The beavers have cleared all of the aspen within 100 yards of the stream, they have to hike straight up the side of the mountain for any more aspen to harvest, must be really tough little guys.

We will plan on a moonlight hike this Saturday night, meet at Shaw Mesa about 530 PM for hot dogs, chili, s'mores and whatever you would like to bring to share with the group. The Full Moon is on Sunday and will be "the harvest moon" which should be larger than ever.............so bring your chairs and something to share, I will have the fire going and bring the hot dogs, cappuccino, hot water, buns and tortillas.

We will plan on hiking into Sawmill Park next Tuesday providing the foliage turns down here, otherwise we will go back to a higher elevation.............meet at the VCPL by 9 AM, bring lunch, water and a friend..
