John led us on a warm, sunny hike today, starting at the River Hill campground downriver from Rio Grande Reservoir and then going downstream about 3 miles. We had a good lunch, identified several wildflowers (3 unknowns; if you know what they are, let me know) and hiked back up to the vehicles. We managed to make a stop at Freemons store for ice cream..................
Next week we will be making the hike around Hunter Lake to the Stair steps and then back down the other side of Hunter Lake. Meet at 9 AM at Rickles Park, bring your lunch, water and a friend.
ON TUESDAY, JULY 2OTH WE ARE PLANNING ON AN OVERNIGHT HIKE (maybe 2 nights) INTO WHEELER AREA. WE WILL MAKE OUR PLANS AFTER NEXT WEEKS HIKE, PLEASE COME IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN DOING THE OVERNIGHT. WE WILL HAVE OUR GEAR AND FOOD, EXTRA WATER, HAULED INTO THE AREA FOR US.
