Embargo Creek hike

The Fremont Fourth Expedition continues to fascinate me.  So today Doug took us several more places on the "escape route" out of the mountains.
Doug and Wayne led the way across the creek somehow keeping feet dry.

Crossing Embargo Creek required balance and sturdy branches.  Wayne and Doug were beavers and reinforced the way across.

Pat was the sentry, serious like.

One could see how they could have used these caves for shelter.  We, however, had a much nicer day for it.

This cave entrance is especially difficult to see from below.  When leaves grace the bushes, we suspect that it is almost impossible to see.

The last trek to the overhanging shelter was most picturesque, as well as the intrepid explorers.
Driving back we saw these pelicans which I did not take a photograph of.  My weak excuse was that it was raining as we went by.  I felt somewhat guilty so I returned.  Some of them must have left as we saw about 20 before.
Bob.
