snowshoe photos

Ten well-equipped snowshoers found refuge from wind and cold in this little valley.
Deep and shallow snow gave us some huff-'n-puff breathing exercise and some beautiful scenes to enjoy.

Thanks to Ashlee Bratton for coming to work on a holiday to greet us at the Visitor Center.  She has some ideas for our participation in community service. Ashlee takes over the legacy of Josephine Pierce, after Josephine's 14 years of outstanding service to this community and the San Luis Valley.

Thanks also to the 9 pushers who got my Subaru moving on the slick snow (yes, even a Subaru can spin its wheels on occasion).

Join us next Monday at the So. Fork Visitor Center before 10 a.m. with snowshoes and friend(s).  (Jim Griffin expects to join us.)

This area was Marty's refuge when he operated River Bend. He's back!  … with nine friends.

Can it get better than this?

Yon hillside was burned in 2002--wasted wood, future Fall colors.
