Thursday hike early start and next Tuesday hike (very early start)

Two schedule adjustments for Thursday (August 25) and a week ahead Tuesday (August 30):

1.  The Thursday hike will be with Creede folks leading us on Snowshoe Mountain.  The starting time is earlier than normal.
South Fork folks meet at the Visitor Center at 8 a.m. (departure time).  We'll meet the Creede group at the Deep Creek Trailhead, just off the cutoff road, at about 8:30 a.m.

The early start should allow getting back before a deluge drops from the clouds.

2.  Next week's Tuesday hike will be (weather permitting) a 7 mile walk up (and then 7 miles down) 14,000' San Luis Peak.  It's not at all technical, but it will be mostly at high elevation along the Continental Divide/Colorado Trail north of Creede.  Several of our hikers have made it to the top in the past, on their own.

We'll start at South Fork Visitor Center at 6:30 a.m., so we can get a 7:30-8 a.m. start time and be off the mount before rains start.  Creede people can join us on the street near the main Creede Repertory Theatre at about 7:00 a.m.

Of course, if the skies are threatening in the morning, we'll adjust our destination and try to give you a different worthwhile experience. In that case, we'll return to San Luis Peak in September.

(If you want to hike with us on Thursday but not go all the way to the top, you are welcome to come along, assuming that you can arrange a partner to enjoy this spectacular scenery with you. Most of it is above timberline and with a clearly marked trail.  In this case, you can go at your own pace (with a partner).  Those seeking to reach the peak will not be able to succeed if they are held back to accompany the slowest members.  However, we will respect the differing but reasonable time requirements of people going to the top at their own pace in pairs, trios, quads, or quints.)
