Boulder Field at Million

We started at the Million Res. parking lot (8500 ft.) and wandered South through the Boulder field and then up the old road for about a mile and a half. There we climbed up a Long, Steep hill to near the top of the mountain (9500 ft.), where we took off to the North towards Million Res. When we got into the burned area we noticed how much grass and browse there was for the cattle and wildlife. We crossed over a lot of downed trees and down a couple of steep slopes until we ran into Million Creek, which we followed down the hill to the lake. Pretty demanding hike on the breathing and balance to negotiate the steep areas but everybody did fine.
The "pvc flood gate" is designed to keep the cattle in and in the event of a flood to float above the water and return to the closed position after the water subsides (that's the theory anyway). Neither Wayne nor I had ever seen one made of pvc pipe....................
Wayne & Linda will lead us on a hike Monday, show up at the VCPL at 9AM for a nice hike....remember to bring your lunch, water and a friend...
