Miners Creek Hike
We had to walk through the creek a couple of times, it would have been easier than this crossing.

Trail 341B Hike
We hiked just under 5 miles round trip. There
were a lot of downed trees, but the trail was wide and we got around them with
no problems. Thanks, Wayne and Linda for a great hike.
Wednesday
there is another hike that will be led by Dennis.
Friday
we are going to finish clearing the Lake Fork Trail, which our club maintains.
We
would like to see everyone at both hikes.

Lake Fork Trail Cleanup
We started at the top of the Tie Hill/Lake Fork trail, 5 of
us going down the trail with a chainsaw and loppers. Linda M. and Barbara
took the vehicles down to the bottom of the trail and started up to meet us.
Wayne's saw wouldn't run so my saw was the tool of
choice. I had installed a new carburetor, fuel lines and primer bulb last
week to correct a fuel supply problem. It refused to run at the higher
altitude until making adjustments to the carburetor, then it ran OK. FOR ABOUT
AN HOUR! After that it was a pain in the neck. We were able to
clear about 2.5 miles of the trail before giving up and headed for the
truck.
WANTED! A NEW LIGHTWEIGHT 16 TO 20 INCH GAS CHAINSAW,
CONTACT WAYNE OR DENNIS!!
We ran onto the campers 3 miles down the trail, they had
come up from the bottom and were very appreciative of our clearing the lower
part of the trail.
Thanks a million to Wayne & Linda M., Ryan, Lloyd &
Barbara and Linda C. for their help on a hot day. It was very warm and
dirty work. I didn't take any pictures of the deadfalls, after you've seen a
couple they all look alike. And I was tired.........
Come Monday and join us for a NON WORKDAY HIKE, enjoy the
opportunity while you can.

Lake Fork Trail Cleanup 6-6-18
Five of us cleaned up the trail for 2.5 miles, up to the
washout on the trail. Wayne and I cleared the trees, Linda C., Dennis M.
and Linda M. cut the brush back out of the way. Wayne and I also moved
some larger rocks and one boulder? off the trail.
The deadfalls are getting larger, the smaller ones having
already fallen. The positive side of all this? There are a lot
fewer trees still standing to fall now..........
It was a lot of work, we saw one user RUNNING up and
down the trail while we were working: disgustingly young!
We will be hiking again on Monday, come and join us for a
great time in the outdoors.
Dennis
