Our July 5 stroll through the boulder field and to the Million Pond/Reservoir attracted some hikers that we seldom see, along with others who are regulars. Afterward, we checked out the nearly full reservoir upstream and several other interesting places by automobile.
Dismount to start walking
Tim displayed his boulder prowess
Everyone joined him on another, smaller boulder
But there is more to this climbing area
At the pond, a lovely butterfly showed off.
Seeking small creatures at Million Pond
PLEASE NOTE our next outing at night on Friday. Food is involved and so is moonlight and a nice stroll down a nice road for a fine view of the San Luis Valley.
See Dennis' notice for details. If you don't find it, you can seek information from me at douglasfir636@gmail.com
Also note that we'll have a hike next Monday and a different one on next Wednesday. This will be our regular schedule. Each hike is similar. Each departs at 9 a.m. and is back in 3-5 hours.
We can get into some trails at and near timberline, so bring a little extra warmth. If conditions are rainy, we may adjust the trails that we'll select, for comfort and safety.
