What a gorgeous day to be out of doors enjoying the fresh air, sunshine, fellowship and, of course, the Snow! Part of the group used snowshoes and part of the group didn't, everyone enjoyed the trek up to the Big Meadows reservoir, or at least most of the way to it.
With the coming of Spring and the warmer weather, this will be our last snowshoe outing for this season. Doug will lead the group on a hike next Tuesday at 9 AM, getting back into our usual routine. There has been some discussion concerning changing the hiking day from Tuesday to another day, please voice your opinion and a consensus will be reached before the Summer folks arrive............Dennis
The San Luis valley is located in Southern Colorado high up in the beautiful Rocky Mountains! Our club members are comprised of avid Outdoor Adventurers and Environmental Activists. We came together as a group to create an environment where we can enjoy our magnificent surroundings and work together to preserve and protect this incredible area.

Alder Guard Station
Thirteen of us enjoyed a leisurely trek up to the Alder Guard Station. We want to thank Joe for running the groomer over the trail. The dirt will be showing through before long. We decided it would be easier to walk without our shoes, so they were shucked pretty soon after starting up the trail. We were talking about going to Big Meadows next week. Hope to see you then. -- Harolena

FR 345
The group was asking for suggestions as to where to shoe, and I suggested up 345 as it was a groomed trail and would be easy. It was easy for everyone except me, as I didn't realize how "up hill" it was. But we made it nearly to the big PB barn and had lunch. The snow is so crusty, so I think we will have to stick to the groomed trails. See ya next Monday. -- Harolena.
