Hope creek hike 9-7-15

Wayne led 11 of us up the Hope Cr. trail, in the burned area, to see the changes that the 2012 fire and later heavy rains made to the landscape.  The changes are many and varied; the trail has been washed out in many places with 3 or 4 major washouts.  The dead trees have all been cleared from the trail, but one dead tree snapped off about halfway up the height of the tree and fell about ten feet from David H., getting his undivided attention for a while.
The fireweed had already bloomed and gone to seed, only a few late blooming wildflowers were visible. We went about one-half mile into the Wilderness Area for our lunch spot and then returned back to the vehicles.

Come out Wednesday for a hike with Doug, he will be leading us on another interesting and entertaining hike.

I have been asked to lead the group up to the Stair Steps above Hunter Lake on Thursday, we will go up the trail past the lake to the top.  The last half mile  is pretty steep so bring your extra energy and O.  We will come via the North route, picking up the Decker's trail and follow it down most of the way back to the trucks.
