Rolling hike photos

Several seasonal hikers were about to leave Colorado, so we rolled over to Stunner Valley and Platoro to see if the golden phase of the year had begun to show its colors.  The beginning was there, but pretty scarce.  We guess that Sept. 30 will be spectacular (as usual).  The green and blue and white beauty of those places was terrific, however. The clouds added beautiful contrast.  The rain held off until we got to our homes, then came down with vigor.

Thanks to Skip Pickering for driving his rental vehicle and clearing the road of sharp rocks (tire repaired at Platoro by owner of Skyline Lodge).

The big hamburgers at Skyline Lodge lived up to their reputation; only a few polished off the cobbler afterward.  Recommendation: take one or the other (based on my gluttonous experience).

Smoother roads exist in other places, but if there are more beautiful visual treats in Colorado, I am surely willing to visit them.

To view the stunning Stunner-Platoro color show, I hope that Judy and I will be able to go back to Platoro on Sunday, Sept. 29, leaving about 11 a.m.  You're welcome to accompany us.  Call 873-5239.
